Historical Attraction...or something

Lately, I've ended up reading a lot of historical fiction (I like historical fiction though, so it's all well and good).

Recently, I watched this movie called Valiant for, like, the third time or something. :> Was about carrier pigeons around World War II, from the English standpoint. I learned a lot of geography from that.

A month ago, I read a book called The Boy Who Dared, about a boy in the Hitler Youth--German pov, clearly. It was a really "sad" story but still pretty good...I'd probably recommend it.

And then just now I finished some book called Briar Rose. One of the only books I've read that had a Polish person as the main character. Surprisingly there wasn't any gore or anything.

I've been looking for a historical fiction about the Italians or the Russians or something...Anyone seen one?
